Amico Loano shipyard history and heritage
a state-of-the-art shipyard dedicated to yachts and superyachts up to 55 metres LOA
An Amico Marine Group brand established in 2010, Amico Loano is a state-of-the-art shipyard dedicated to yachts and superyachts up to 55 metres LOA. Born from the Amico family’s deep-rooted naval heritage and their decades of specialisation in the yachting sector, the facility is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure and dedicated in-house workshops. This setup allows our team to seamlessly manage everything from routine maintenance tasks to the most complex superyacht refits.
Quality, flexibility, and reliability are the enduring strengths that have established Amico Loano as a reference in the refit sector. By fostering relationships built on total transparency and collaboration, we serve as the ideal technical partner for evaluating and executing all onboard interventions, providing a fundamental reference point for your vessel’s management.
The Amico family legacy in Loano
The foundation of Amico Loano marks the family's return to the exact location where, in 1799, master builder Matteo Amico established the first Amico shipyard. For nearly a century, the yard constructed dozens of medium and large-tonnage wooden sailing vessels.
As steel-hulled craft and steam propulsion revolutionised the maritime world, Michele Amico, a descendant of Matteo, relocated to Genoa. In 1885, he launched the Amico Company, providing vital labour and services to the port’s evolving fleet. This ability to anticipate and interpret profound industry changes remains the hallmark of the Amico name today.
In 1991, Guido Amico and his son Luigi Alberto founded Amico & Co, transforming their historical craft and technical specialisations into a modern production organisation. Two centuries after the first wooden ship was launched, the Amico Group has grown into an internationally recognised leader in the superyacht repair and refit sector.
